Peer Review Process

Peer review is a critical component of maintaining the quality and integrity of research published in the Annals of Research in Engineering and Environmental Technology (AREET). The peer review process for AREET is designed to ensure that all submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous evaluation by experts in the field. Here's an overview of the peer review process for AREET:

1. Submission of Manuscripts:

  • Authors submit their research manuscripts to AREET through the online submission system, adhering to the journal's guidelines and formatting requirements.

2. Initial Editorial Assessment:

  • Upon receipt, the Editorial Office conducts an initial assessment to ensure that the submission meets the journal's scope and guidelines.
  • Manuscripts that do not align with the journal's focus or fail to meet basic criteria are rejected at this stage, with feedback provided to authors.

3. Assignment to Reviewers:

  • Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant field.
  • Reviewers are chosen based on their subject matter knowledge, research experience, and prior contributions to the field.

4. Peer Review Process:

  • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on various criteria, including the novelty and significance of the research, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
  • Reviewers provide detailed feedback, comments, and recommendations to the authors, highlighting strengths and weaknesses.

5. Author Revisions:

  • Authors receive the reviewers' comments and are given an opportunity to revise and improve their manuscripts accordingly.
  • Authors are encouraged to address all reviewer comments and provide a point-by-point response to each suggestion or concern.

6. Second Review (if necessary):

  • Revised manuscripts may undergo a second round of peer review if significant revisions are made or if there are lingering concerns.
  • This additional review ensures that the manuscript has been appropriately revised and improved.

7. Editorial Decision:

  • Based on the reviewers' assessments and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor makes an editorial decision, which can include:
    • Acceptance: The manuscript is accepted for publication in its current form or with minor revisions.
    • Minor Revision: The manuscript requires minor revisions before acceptance.
    • Major Revision: The manuscript requires substantial revisions and re-review.
    • Rejection: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards and is rejected.
  • The editorial decision is communicated to the authors, along with reviewers' comments and feedback.

8. Final Manuscript Preparation:

  • Authors of accepted manuscripts prepare the final version of their manuscripts, incorporating any requested revisions and ensuring that they adhere to the journal's formatting and style guidelines.

9. Publication:

  • Once the final manuscript is approved by the Editorial Office, it is scheduled for publication in the journal.

The peer review process in AREET is conducted to maintain the highest standards of quality, ethics, and academic rigor. It aims to ensure that published research contributes significantly to the field of engineering and environmental technology and is based on sound methodology and scholarship.
