Abstract

In today’s digitally connected world, the integration of social media tools into teaching and learning settings has revolutionize teaching and learning experiences. This study explores the multifaceted implications of incorporating social media tools into educational practices. The purpose of this study is to delve into the benefits and best practices associated with the integration of social media tools in order to enhance the overall quality of teaching and learning in Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi. A descriptive survey design was adopted for the study with a population of 50,000 comprised of lecturers and students of Auchi. Stratified random sampling techniques was use to get a sample of 381 respondents representing 15% of the population. The instrument used for the study tagged ISOMETEL was administered to 381 respondents however, 273 were retrieved accordingly. The findings revealed that both lecturers and students are interested in the use of social media tools for teaching and learning. It also revealed that the use of social media tools for teaching and learning do not depend on qualification attained. It was recommended that government and stakeholder in education should encourage the use of social media for teaching and learning in tertiary institutions by ensuring free internet and data are available in school environment.
